Xtube

Classic old X Tube; if you've spent much time watching porn on the Internet (yes, that's you, dickweed), you've probably heard of (or rather, been to) the website known as Xtube.com. Being one of the largest porn tube sites in the world, it's unlikely that you frequent porn sites and have never heard of this site. In fact, they claim to be the first adult tube site on the Internet, originally released in March of 2006.

With nearly 9 million users, Xtube has very impressive numbers for any website, much less a porn tube. In fact, compared to all the websites in existence, they are doing very well for themselves; according to Alexa's Web Traffic Report, as of April 2018, they rank #705 in the United States.

X Tube is part of adult media giant Mindgeek, the company responsible for the entire Pornhub network, including Porn Hub, Redtube, Youporn, Tube 8, and Spank Wire. Over the past decade, they have established quite a reputation: in 2012, Mindgeek owner Fabian Thylmann attempted to buy rival tube site Xvideos for $120 million in order to gain a virtual monopoly on porn tube .

But Xvideos gave Thylmann a big middle finger and simply replied, "Sorry, I gotta go play Diablo II." Leave without paying $200? But that's okay, because for the rich people at Porn Hub, $200 is a small price to pay.

Porn sites that will pay for it.

What makes Xtube definitely different from other tube sites is that it is one of the only porn sites where you can actually make money, not just spend money. You can sign up as a model, upload your own content, do whatever your heart (or dick) desires, remain anonymous, and set your own prices. Xtube then agrees to pay you what you earn every other week. They claim you can earn up to $5000 per pay period.

I have to say that this is a really fucking cool feature. Those who have read my other reviews all know that I am all about becoming more and more interactive and participatory about the future of porn and this is definitely a great way to help that mission along. Of course, your ability to actually make decent money from your uploads depends on the quality of your content and your ability to get it seen. In other words, you probably won't get paid for a shitty phone video of your fat ass touching a tiny penis. But if you find a hot chick to fuck you and get a halfway decent camera, you might have a chance.

But let's assume you don't have what it takes to be an amateur porn star (most people don't, plain and simple), there's still plenty to enjoy as a passive observer on Xtube. When you land on the site's home page, you are presented with videos of all types. The site features a mix of gay and straight content. Visiting a user's profile will show a timeline, about me, photo gallery, comments, friend list, and options to send a gift, make a donation, or block a user. Also, if you have videos for sale, you can purchase them from your profile.

Very standard layout and design

As far as just going to look at Xtube as a porn tube, it seems as good as any of the other big names. They have a decent media player where you can hover your mouse over the scrub bar and see a preview of what to ik with a particular video, each video has a list of tags, a list of related videos below the media player and other videos from the uploader on the right list of other videos from the uploader on the right. Finally, at the bottom of the page, there is a comments section. Video playback quality, buffering, links, etc. all seem to be checked. xtube is as good as your go-to tube, but with far more features.

But there are things about Xtube that I am not crazy about. First, the ads. There are ads on the right side of every page, as well as ads that take over the screen when you pause the video. For a tube site that obviously has multiple revenue streams, this seems like a lot of bullshit. That said, there is a way to eliminate all ads from your Xtube experience. You can sign up for a paid membership ($9.99/month for a 12-month contract). However, I am not sure how much this is worth. Even with a paid membership, you still have to purchase amateur videos one at a time.

There is no free amateur content.

Another thing that is a bit annoying is that you have to register to view amateur content, which is what I would call a membership. From what I have found, you do not need to sign up for a paid membership to view this content, but you do need to purchase or rent what you want to view.

Pricing is at the discretion of the uploader, and while I understand that Xtube has created a unique platform for uploading homemade content and potentially earning income, it would be nice to at least be able to stream a video (or a portion of it) once or twice before paying for it. Amateur porn lovers, if you are not willing to pay, Xtube is not the site for you.

It is not for passive porn viewers.

If you are looking for a porn tube where you can easily interact with fellow members, try your hand at becoming an amateur porn star, watch tons of free (non-amateur) videos, and support your favorite models, then overall, Xtube is the perfect site. On the other hand, if you're just looking for a quick fap-and-go porn tube, there are probably more efficient sites for that purpose.

Maybe you could convince women to shoot a video with you to upload to Xtube (often misspelled as "xporn", "xtubes", "xtubr", or "x-tube"). What's the harm, right? We can do what we like, upload it easily, and then just sit back.
